Akhil Kumar Das is a New Delhi-based Hindustani Classical Vocalist. He was born in a family with musical background and atmosphere. Akhil was introduced with Hindustani Classical Music by his father at a very young age. His father always used to say that Music is a “Brahma Vidya” which makes people either enlightened or lost. All his siblings are natural singers, however, only Akhil chose Music as his Profession, and dedicated his whole life & soul to it because of his uttermost passion towards music.

 

He started taking actual training of Hindustani Vocal from the very renowned Guru of Indore Gharana, Late Pt. Amarnath ji in New Delhi and later from Late Pt. Shrikant Bakre ji of the same gharana, in Calcutta. He also got training from Gwalior Gharana. He became an enlisted All India Radio Artiste at the age of 24.

 

During his long journey in music spanning 30 years, he has touched numerous milestones & has lots of accomplishments in his credit. He has performed at various places like India International Centre, India Habitat Centre, Bengal Association, Sahitya Kala Parishad, Sahitya Natak Academy, Epicentre, Sanskaar Bharati, Poorva Sanskritik Kendra, Lok Kala Manch & much more. His musical concerts were also held at Dhaka, Bangladesh where he performed at Shilpa Kala Academy (2009), National Press Club (2010) & Chhayanat School of Music (2010). Among his other accomplishments, one that needs to be highlighted is starting his own style of singing and creating a completely unique gharana known as the Shuddha Aakaar Parampara. In the year 2013, Akhil created Pandit Shrikant Bakre Memorial Foundation as a tribute to his Revered Guruji Pandit Shrikant Bakre ji according to his Guruji's wish which Akhil visualized in his dreams. Hence, he created and registered the foundation and now Akhil Kumar Das is the Founder and Lifetime Managing Trustee of PANDIT SHRIKANT BAKRE MEMORIAL FOUNDATION.
